Little Diomede Island or “Yesterday Isle, formerly known as Krusenstern Island, is an island of Alaska, United States. It is the smaller of the two Diomede Islands located in the middle of the Bering Strait between the Alaskan mainland and Siberia.

On the west coast of Little Diomede is the town of Diomede, and it is the only settlement on the two islands.
The population is 83 people, down from 115 at the 2010 census and 146 in 2000.
Big Diomede Island features a similarly barren landscape to Little Diomede Island but also a small Russian military base.

Two competing world powers just a couple of miles and nearly a day apart.
I never knew about this little city until yesterday. I’m over fifty.
